Jobs worth doing

Sometimes it's hard to know what your calling in life is. From today's standards Jean Florence McIlveen didn't amount to much. She only worked for a short time in paid employment administration, she didn't drive til she was nearly 40 and spent her life looking after others.



Yesterday she turned 90. She does very little these days other than sleep, with an occasional lucid moment where she pops back from wherever she has been.
I think she ultimately found her calling in being a grandmother. We had the unique privilege of living a short walk away and loved to pop in and visit grandma and pa.
So here is to my grandma. A gentle generous grandma who made a career out of being the best one she could be.
Happy Mothers Day to mums and grandmas everywhere. A job that's unmeasurable and unfathomable in the extent of its effects.
