A pass back in

I know it looks like Tristan and I have been to a funky nightclub. But it couldn't be more further from the truth. I dragged him, Elliot and my parents in law along to the quilts exhibit at the art gallery this week. Elliot and Richard and pam were ever so obliging. Tristan not so much. I fear this may start a life long hatred Of craft shows and fabric shops. Tho the exhibition had nothing to do with that. It was all about history. And it was wonderful some of the quilts were 400 years old. It was a reminder that people don't change. I think one of my favourites was made by soldiers in the Crimean war. Which makes me think I need to read a book about that. Preferably somewhat in my genre comfort zone of historical fiction set in a war. ( my other comfort zone is books about living in France with recipes thrown in)

Tristan screamed all the way thru and I got a pass back in about 3 times to see it all. I bumped into my friend who works at the gallery afterward and she said most babies had the same reaction to the exhibit- Screaming and wanting to get out of there. The lady she was with said in sage tones - yes they must be able to feel all the memories. Bawhhaaa. I think more like they can smell the old and decay and don't like it or don't understand why its so dim and cold and people are staring at walls walking slowly and speaking in Hushed tones without making eye contact - that would scare me.
Most of the quilts were from the v and a - so it made me happy Jen remember that wonderful day we spent there?

One

Wow what a year! Look how big he's got!

Cruising.

I took Elliot to a birthday party down at port side on Saturday. All the way along the river I was saying to him look at that massive boat! He couldn't see it! When we got there I pointed it out to him and flabbergasted he says - oh wow that is a big boat!
He was a bit worried out the life boats if they would be big enough to take everyone on board. I told him it was a common concern but I was pretty sure there was some legislation to cover that sort of thing nowadays

Walking iris

My lovely friend Ali gave me some walking iris from her garden about 18months ago. This week they are flowering and looking so great.

Ive told the boys they need to watch carefully cause they will get up and walk around
they are certainly filling up that space in the garden.

An altercation

Tonight I put my foot down. The boys room was so messy and I'd had enough and I wasn't cleaning it up. I did what my parents threatened and brought in a big garbage bag - mostly for visual effect and drama and said "if this room isn't tidier in 30 minutes I'm going to start chucking out toys!"
Not jimmy monkey! Sebastian said - no I said I'm not that mean I'd never throw out jimmy.

The afternoon wore on with many arguments Btwn the boys about who was shirking responsibilities (it's mostly always Elliot - standing around talking about tidying up rather than actually tidying up) and then a bit of fisty cuffs
It came to a head tho when Elliot declared that if sebastian didn't tidy up Elliot was going to throw out jimmy monkey.
Sebastian came running out crying to us in indignation - I'd never say that about his jimmy monkey that's just awful!
I think Elliot may have found Sebastian's kryptonite.
This was how I found them asleep

Holding on to jimmy tightly

Tristans jimmy is also well loved he sucks on the end of the tail.

The drought has been broken

Each week Sebastian would have his school assembly and each week come home empty handed. I figured that at least once he might do something worthy of a certificate. Or in the very least by the law of averages with 22 kids in his class and some weeks 2 kids get an award he had to come up sooner or later. But term 1 turned into term 2 then winter came and went and we are a week away from the 4th term and huzzah!

A certificate
For continued excellence in spelling

looking particularly unexcited

He couldn't have cared less which was nice. Internal motivators are far better than external ones ( i need to listen to my own advice)

The car fort

Seb and Elliot fashioned this fort out of the usual suspects cushions and blankets. But this one was a car. They were driving to loads of places

Almost there

This time last year we were in hospital waiting for this little guy. He doesn't like to wait now. Constantly on the go and climbing! My goodness the climbing!
