1st time movie goer, long time buzz fan

I forgot I had taken this photo a few months ago when Sebastian went to his first movie with Derek. Toy Story 3. He wore his buzz pajama pants, a buzz tshirt, watch and LGM jumper. He was wearing the full kit.
There were mixed reviews about the movie from his perspective, a little bit good and a little bit bad. He stayed for the whole thing and did have a good time.

before the batteries died

I dont have a great relationship with batteries and I was all set to get some great shots of family fun at Dreamworld. I put the batteries in the day before to charge and popped them in the camera just before we left - as I turned it on to take the first photo - flash* flash* change batteries now.**
WHAT????
so you dont get to see the sheer terror on my face as I plunged down the giant drop or the gforces impacting my cheekbone as I rushed towards oblivion on the tower of terror, nor the shaken mess I was after stepping off the claw - No you will have to imagine all these things - as will I. ( see last post and note the absence from the teacup ride)

toot toot chugga chugga

its nearly Elliots birthday. He loves the wiggles. We took him to dreamworld for an early birthday present (read - we found shopper dockets with unbelievably cheap entry so we went in november instead of December - he is 2 he wont remember)
First order of business - Wiggles World - the big red car ride. Now as a 34 year old I thought this was Lame yes with a capital L the wiggles appear on 4 video screens pretend henry, wags and Dorothy pop out ( and scare the pants of the 4yo) It just wasnt all I thought it would be, BUT - its not all about thrill seeking for the adults in a day at dreamworld...no I didnt go on any rides other than the merry go round. and definately not the tea cups or flying chairs (insert vomitting sounds here)
I am a wuss. My children are not! I am very thankful for my husband who is willing to go on the rides with them. Sebastian is now talking about how when he is a teenager he will go on the tower of terror and the blue ringed octopus. Funny how all that bravado has come since this incident - which is still keenly remembered and spoken of in hushed tones

We did all go on the log ride - I sat behind Sebastian and had my hands around his chest. I could feel his heart pumping at double time - he was very brave even though he didnt want to be. He has shown much courage in the face of such fears this week - I sprung his 4yo needles on him at the dr the other day and he got through it without a tear. But the adrenalin rush was so great that it lead to an almighty come down - a lot of verbalising and telling everyone - including the drivethru guy at MacDonalds about how brave he was - AND he was.

Ive got georgia on my mind

we love georgia. she is starting to love carnaby. Carnaby has always loved her. She makes fridays slightly more in my favour and a lot of fun

one not so sunny day

its raining its pouring, well it has been wetter here than usual, a good chance to get out the gumboots and the raincoats and go splashing. - no one came home dry

one sunny day

Some lovely friends who are moving os donated this to us in their clean up - fun was had by all... well except me who after 10 years of water restrictions has become unable to use a hose or run a tap - the water miser in me wont go. grrrr and it looks like so much fun. I have said that no we cant get it out everyday maybe just days when its hot and special friends come to play. that seems reasonable

not for the faint hearted

there is a shop nearby that is run by an 80 odd year old woman who clearly had her heyday in the late 70s early 80s. Her shop somewhat reflects that. it is a treasure trove of amazing finds and weirdness from the 80s. Brown flat fronted stubbies, brown trimmed large underpants circa 1972, the list is on going tea cosies, crocheted coathangers, she has it all. Unfortunately Margaret is being forced out of what I will loosely call her business (hobby - Im not sure she could actually make money out of her stock) by a big name chain chemist - you know the type that offers all that generic medicine and weightloss know how. Well Margaret was having a 30% off sale and I was having a bad day, after a week of blood tests, I splurged in the only way I know how - moderately and on haberdashery.
I got a huge bag full of fabric, notions, interfacing, fusible webbing, buttons, zips and elastic for $70, so much stuff!
I have a fair few projects in the queue now. But I am sad to see Margaret and her unusual business go. I also am sad to think what will become of her now she doesnt have her shop to go to and people to chat with all day. So this is a post for Margaret and the poor people who will have to clean out her shop with grime from the 70s. SEW LONG MARGARET.

holidays at brunswick

we had a lovely holiday way back in Sept/Oct with our good friends the Gillies. The Holiday was tinged with sadness as the realisation dawned on Derek and Berty that they had not been accepted as part of The Amazing Race for 2010. They did take it in their stride and we were able to continue on and have a good holiday anyway. It began with impetigo for Elliot and ended with bad tonsilitis and vomitting for Sebastian. Ah the memories. Here tho they are all having a good time.
