before the batteries died

I dont have a great relationship with batteries and I was all set to get some great shots of family fun at Dreamworld. I put the batteries in the day before to charge and popped them in the camera just before we left - as I turned it on to take the first photo - flash* flash* change batteries now.**
WHAT????
so you dont get to see the sheer terror on my face as I plunged down the giant drop or the gforces impacting my cheekbone as I rushed towards oblivion on the tower of terror, nor the shaken mess I was after stepping off the claw - No you will have to imagine all these things - as will I. ( see last post and note the absence from the teacup ride)

holidays at brunswick

we had a lovely holiday way back in Sept/Oct with our good friends the Gillies. The Holiday was tinged with sadness as the realisation dawned on Derek and Berty that they had not been accepted as part of The Amazing Race for 2010. They did take it in their stride and we were able to continue on and have a good holiday anyway. It began with impetigo for Elliot and ended with bad tonsilitis and vomitting for Sebastian. Ah the memories. Here tho they are all having a good time.

under 8s festival

last month Southbank had an under 8s festival. It was a lot of fun. I took the camera armed to get lots of good shots of the fun to be had only to find after this photo the batteries were dead. We went to an inflatable maze called Amoccoco which was a lot of fun, like walking on the inside of a jumping castle. we had to wait for an hour in a queue to get inside, the boys were amazingly patient waiting. Once inside a lady read us the riot act about walking thru and not bouncing on the walls, not falling on them etc etc. hmmmm another curator with unrealisitc expectations of four year olds. Needless to say we spent our time inside shouting stop running, dont jump, off that wall! It was great though.

New and Old

My Grandparents have recently gone into a nursing home that I got to visit this week. Its a lovely place, with lovely patient staff who are caring for them both very well, they get to see each other most days.
As my mum clears out their house a few things have come my way. It was with a sense of excitement and sadness that I greeted these New old things. Excited - cause I love these things and they remind me of my grandparents and all the happy time we had at their place, but sad because of what it represents - the end of an era, the passing of time, the finality of death and the frailty of life.
The pieces are fitting in well and are being well used ( am sitting on the couch now) Thanks Grandma and Pa
