5

Our lovely Elliot is 5 today (it's 1230am) so here are 5 things I love about him

He loves people. He is all about people he can't get enough of them

He is mr enthusiasm. He enjoys life.

He loves a good joke and is starting to tell some of his own. He laughter is infectious belly chuckles and it always has been

He has a compassionate heart. He gets all happy sad when he sees someone doing something nice for other people. He cries in a sad bits of movies or in sad songs. And he is not ashamed. I hope this continues

He uses words to build people up ( and tear them down. But more on that another post) he is kind and effusive with his praise and affection. He pays a lovely compliment and knows when to say nice things.

He is my darling 2ic. He will be boss of the world one day when I hand over the reigns.
Happy birthday my big 5 year old.

The iron head

Our last full day in Adelaide, we decided to head to the barossa visit Maggie and some vintners so we took the kids to a park before we drove to the valley to run the ragged so we might taste a drop or two. Good plan no?

-This is one end of the park. Flying foxes, mega slides, tunnels, mazes, pirate ships, centrifugal spinners giant swings - you name it this park had it. Elliot was like a kid in a candy store. Well he is a kids in a candy store.

Here is mike having a good time

Elliot Chloe and Ethan cutting a hip hop video at the pirate ship

Now getting out of Gaol

These toe got stuck there

So they blasted their way out very casually.
Then it started to rain so we headed for cover. It was 17degrees on December and pouring with rain.
We were about to give up and head to the barossa when my children discovered the slides went really fast with wet pants and a bit of rain on them to provide less friction. Elliot went on one and shot off the end into a soft fall bark bank. We were all laughing so hard at him he we egged on wet pants and all. He tried the second slide. He used his hands on the sides to slow himself down an rammed into
The bank again. He bolted off for a third go. We were turning around to leave when from the top Jen yelled "Elliot."
It was a split second later
He flew off the end twisted in the air and hit the back of his head full tilt on a wooden Log.

See exhibit a and b. 3.5 m in the air to hit the pole. He flew. The screaming started. I ran the meter or so I was away and grabbed his head expecting to see blood all over my hands. I carefully took them away and there was none. I looked to find a graze. There was none. We waited for the egg - none appeared. He had flown 3.5 m with a twenty metre run up traveling at 40km/h and caused a sound like a watermelon being smashed with a cricket bat and there was no visible scar? We waited. The screaming continued for about 10 min. He ate a croissant and a mango. He went on the swing. Jen did head injury obs. We waited some more. Should we go to the hospital? Was he bleeding internally. Nope obs still good. He wanted to go on another slide!!!!! Nooiooo.

This was 30min later.
And if you look carefull in the first photo he is on the giant slide with Derek.
That boy is superman. He flew. He has a head made of steel and is fast as a bullet.
He was not allowed to go to sleep that day and at night at 8 when he went to bed 9 hrs later I woken him and roused him every hour or so. I have never been so glad to see Elliot at 6 in the morning. Still can't believe he was fine - we all prayed that night to thank God for making Elliot superman even if just for a little while
The only slides he might see for a while will be at indoor play centres or with a helmet on

Some Days the cute is just too much.

Why?

Today saw Tristan trying to stick things up his nose.... All day

At one point it was this scythe. At another I wound his with a curly straw
What makes you wake up and think I know today I will see what things fit up my nose?

Chloe time

It's not often a 5 year old girl asks to spend time with me, so I felt privileged to have my niece ask to have sometime At a cafe to talk and have a baby cino and croissant with Vegemite. Obviously we don't see eye to eye on Vegemite and it's appropriate uses but we were able to put that to the side and carry on for a lovely brunch where we both screwed up our noses at each other's food choices (I had chilli scrambled eggs with a zucchini fritter and caramelised onion and spinach) I hope this continues. The time spent with nieces not the poo pooing of their food choices.

The face painting part 2

The dragons

Elliot would think up a challenge for Jen most days! I didn't take a picture of the shark or the other dragons and creations they came up with. I think Elliot both likes the finished product of what he looks like but also the process of the painting he sits so still and patiently waits for the painting to be done, I asked him and he said he liked the feeling of the paint brush it was tickly.
