Hello

Doesn't that just make you smile?
Dinner tonight at the local hotel with kids playground. It was a bit average, not as good as I had remembered. But the kids had a great time, until Elliot hit his head. It was a celebration of holidays, a long put off meal from end of soccer seasons, and bravery acknowledgement for a young someone who had a plantar wart frozen off this morning.

New wave fashion

Most mornings Elliot arrives in our bedroom in some form of undress, mostLy it's in the nude. This morning he has done this. Sebastian's t shirt on back to front and pants on sideways, so two legs in the one hole. He's quite proud of himself.

We Also found him asleep curled up next to seb on the top bunk last night. Seb was in a lot of trouble and knew if he called out to us all privileges today were cancelled so Elliot got his wish to sleep cuddled next to sebastian.

toot toot chugga chugga

its nearly Elliots birthday. He loves the wiggles. We took him to dreamworld for an early birthday present (read - we found shopper dockets with unbelievably cheap entry so we went in november instead of December - he is 2 he wont remember)
First order of business - Wiggles World - the big red car ride. Now as a 34 year old I thought this was Lame yes with a capital L the wiggles appear on 4 video screens pretend henry, wags and Dorothy pop out ( and scare the pants of the 4yo) It just wasnt all I thought it would be, BUT - its not all about thrill seeking for the adults in a day at dreamworld...no I didnt go on any rides other than the merry go round. and definately not the tea cups or flying chairs (insert vomitting sounds here)
I am a wuss. My children are not! I am very thankful for my husband who is willing to go on the rides with them. Sebastian is now talking about how when he is a teenager he will go on the tower of terror and the blue ringed octopus. Funny how all that bravado has come since this incident - which is still keenly remembered and spoken of in hushed tones

We did all go on the log ride - I sat behind Sebastian and had my hands around his chest. I could feel his heart pumping at double time - he was very brave even though he didnt want to be. He has shown much courage in the face of such fears this week - I sprung his 4yo needles on him at the dr the other day and he got through it without a tear. But the adrenalin rush was so great that it lead to an almighty come down - a lot of verbalising and telling everyone - including the drivethru guy at MacDonalds about how brave he was - AND he was.

holidays at brunswick

we had a lovely holiday way back in Sept/Oct with our good friends the Gillies. The Holiday was tinged with sadness as the realisation dawned on Derek and Berty that they had not been accepted as part of The Amazing Race for 2010. They did take it in their stride and we were able to continue on and have a good holiday anyway. It began with impetigo for Elliot and ended with bad tonsilitis and vomitting for Sebastian. Ah the memories. Here tho they are all having a good time.

A milestone ( around my neck!)

Elliot has taken it upon himself to become toilet trained. we started off using the turtle potty and it was the hot seat in the house... until he realised that big boys used the real toilet and he will not have any part of the potty anymore. This insistence is the bain of my existence, turning a quick wee into a 15 minute procedure ( keep in mind this may happen 2-3 times an hour - so we are spending a lot of time in the smallest room in the house). If Elliot were writing the procedural manual for toiletting it would go like this.

1. Elliot must climb onto the toilet by himself - regardless of how disgusting it is since his older brother also uses it. He will not receive any help in his ascent whatsoever.
2. Elliot must look between his legs to see the fruits of his labours. Even if this means getting wee all over the shop and sticking his hand in it.
3. Elliot must descend the thrown independently, this means do not pick me off and remove me at your own wish
4. Elliot must then pick off a scrap of toilet paper on his own - ripping into many layers of the roll if he so chooses and then deposit said items into the toilet.
5. Elliot must then reclaim the toilet and scale its heights to push both buttons on the top for as long as he likes, even if this means the buttons jamming and making water run into the toilet for a long time
6. Elliot then climbs off the toilet to wash his hands at the sink on his own standing on the green step stool. He must use soap to make bubbles and would like the water to run as long as he desires. He must not be forced into leaving or turning off the taps
7. Elliot will pull the towel down off the towel rail and dry his hands, casting the towel onto the floor.
8. Elliot will leave the premises in an orderly fashion at a moment of his choosing

Note: failure to comply with any of these standards will result in a complete, partial or mega meltdown depending on many variables. Do not try to cut any corners and do not take him into a toilet with an automatic handdryer.

sour faces

I have been making some lemon puddings recently and the boys have been helping. They have both wanted to eat the lemons after I have grated the rind and juiced them. Here they are on the floor eating lemons pulling sour faces. Crazy boys. I cant say Sebastian was the one to lead the charge on this one either!

tv dinners

this was an experiement a few weeks ago when the boys were eating dinner on their own. It was the quietest dinner we have ever had and food was consumed without arguement - mind you it was chicken nuggets and chips. Note the precautionary measures of the rug being rolled back!

Fun at the park

Sai of relief

I had an afternoon spare with no 3 year old so No. 2 and I went to the Op shop. There were a lot of old ladies in there. Elliot dug around in a huge basket of soft toys and pulled out (not dissimilar to excalibur) a Sai. He ran around the shop poking it at various old ladies but the cuteness factor won out for him, I had to buy it at $1.50. So Sebastian and Elliot have been Jousting ever since.

hanging out with Daddy

The hammock is everyones favourite spot at the moment -the weather is perfect for a little relaxing in the hammock under our poinsiana tree.
I realised that in most photos at the moment Elliot has a dummy in his mouth - not an accurate capture of his natural state!

a quick 6!

how quickly 6 months flies in the life of a baby! Elliot is now sitting by himself, crawling, pulling himself up on things, has 4 teeth, and a funny little personality and a new bath to bathe in.

poo bottom wee

This post is in honour of the fascination Sebastian has with those words at the moment. its driving me a little crazy. and those of you who know me, know Im not shy of some good toilet humour but seriously all he does is say " Mummy I said a poo Ah" or "mummy, poo wee bottom bottom bottom" . He seems to do it just for my benefit. i have tried several strategies so far but ignoring him seems to be working the best - as he delights in my annoyance at this. He also thinks that if he says poo with a different ending I might not notice - ie " pooah or poobee." hmmmm
as if Im not dealing with enough of the actual substance everyday between his toileting updates and Elliots nappies I am up to my eyeballs in the stuff, and now I have to hear about it all day too.
so Hanky the christmas poo is for all of you who are sick of hearing about poo. ( except Joshie - hope yours are going in the toilet)

The pretty prince of parties

Here is some fun we had this afternoon with friends and a special family member. Derek is being the lolly man and the kids had to chase him and rip the lollies off him. Hilarious - there will come a time when this is dangerous but at 3 its just rollicking good fun. Please note lovely mown grass in photos - thanks Doug the mowerman
