FUN things to say

Sebastian is really loving talking and is becoming quite a funny little character. He is starting to understand that he can be funny ( Im wondering where he gets this from) and often tries out funny things to say - Last night in the bath he put his head under and swished his hair off his face and said to me
" I am like a princess actually.... ha ha thats a bit funny"
He is also playing around with verb tenses and the like and will come out with some great tries at past irregular and negative tenses - such as:
It dis mummy ( instead of does).
I amnt ( instead of I havent or Im not)

He is also being really lovely and says nice things like - "have a lovely day daddy", "oh you are doing a good drawing mummy", "Im looking after Elliot for you", "You do good bowling daddy"

I met a speechie here on sunday and she is going to loan me a language assessment so I can see where he is up to - dorky or what!!!  But I cant wait!

Elliot on the other hand is just full of smiles and lovely looks, he talks all the time gooing and gaaing, he just loves to be talked to and will keep chatting for 10 -15 minutes at a time, He loves to be in the action and is just happy being cuddled or watching whats going on

Carnaby has fleas...grrrr

too cool for school

some new sunnies - Sebastian has nearly broken the arm off his through loving them too much

cupboard

so when we ripped out the bathroom out came the linen cupboard to make room for a shower separate from the bath. I got this beauty from Ebay for 157 bucks a steal! ( I hope)
so far I have taken all the doors and hardware off and our lovely friend Dave has started sanding it back for me - I have the promise of a tungsten tip scraper this week to get rid of some of the paint and hopefully my friend katie is getting some wall paper samples to put inside the cupboard behind the glass doors. I am very excited about its potential, and very sad that I cant spend every waking moment making it happen. plus am concerned where I am going to put contents of said linen cupboard when we have visitors in the spare room in a couple of weeks -( Phillipa - dont worry I will think of something) stay tuned for cupboard updates...

Mummy works with one hammer

Sebastian took some photos of me the other day when I was trying to rip some Lack shelves off the wall ( for those who know their Ikea products by name). The previous owners - as well as having the shifty hydroponics room downstairs, a ponchant for dodgy plumbing and a fair amount of outstanding debt (we think we had a debt collector visit the other day) also like to use the staple gun and liquid nails. These shelves had been liquid nailed together and to the wall. They were coming off tho' and over a few days with sheer brute force I yoinked them off the wall liquid nails and all. I think the pictures capture my frustration but also the lovely outfit I was wearing while trying! (Ha Ha - not my usual work gear!)

A Bloody big snake

Where you might say... well not in these photos as such but this was the tree that the big snake was in. Once I had gathered myself and googled it to see what kind of snake it was I went back to the tree and stuck the camera out the window and snapped away - The snake had gone by this stage of course to eat the possums who live in our roof but that doesnt make such a good story.
I have never encountered such wildlife than living here in Brisbane. Our homes have been a regular haven for creatures great and small. But a 6ft diamond python in the tree outside the toilet really takes the cake (NB not literally - the chocolate cakes from a few posts before had been well and truly consumed by us and Robert the tiler). Sebastian has now learnt that if he ever sees a snake in the yard he is not to touch it but run away and scream like a big girl ( read here Mummy) "mummy theres a snake! - Heavens knows what I will then do about it, probably scream like a big girl too. I have been ever vigilant since this incident and have even put Sebastians wooden pretend snake away, just so I dont scare myself.

March

March has seen the demise of the day sleep. I think this picture might be the last one infact - we went in to find him with his cat pillow asleep in his tent on the wooden floor. Buzz Also continues to be a favourite - Here is Sebastian all dressed up in a Buzz costume kindly lent from his friend Noah - we had to give it back that day. Its been a bit hot to wear a full polyester suit much. He actually reminded me today that we hadnt written his name on Buzz' shoe like Andy has on his Buzz - so out came the permanent texta.
Watch this space for a Buzz lightyear cake. I have been talking to my cake development team in sydney and I think I have it covered...

Isnt this Bath for Elliot?

Whilst the Renovation continues so does alternative showering and bathing arrangements. Sebastian and Elliot have been bathing in the pink baby bath on the kitchen floor. I think Sebastian might be sad to go back to the normal bath.

Chocolate cakes for Robert

In the midst of the bathroom renovation I decided that we needed to do some cooking. So we tried out a new chocolate cake recipe that called for blackberry jam. I said Sebastian could lick the bowl - special practise for getting that tongue tie nice and loose. As you can see he wore most of it on his forehead - which he thinks is called his elbow and in his hair. Robert the tiler got to smell the delicious cakes cooking and Sebastian the altruistic insisted on sending him home that day with one. Please note its about 11.30 when these pictures were taken and Sebastian is still in his Jamies!

Elliot in February

Here he is 8 weeks old and too cute - note skills of fitting whole fist into mouth

Toot Toot

When we went to visit last time My Pa had been doing some more work on his train set. Sebastian was thoroughly impressed particularly when the lights go out and the trains lights stay on. This is a big work in progress so there will be more updates

Ah rainy days

We got stuck in a downpour a few weeks ago and decided to enjoy it - Sebastian was wet to his core - he didnt mind

our friends the fitz

we recently got to see our friends the fitz. It was such a joy to see our kids all together and especially seeing Sebastian and Joshie playing so nicely and enjoying each other - even though they havent seen each other since April 08. We so want them to be friends like we are - we met when we were 3 so they have 2 years over us so far, and even though the distance is great it was heartwarming to see them being as good a friends as 3 year olds can be. As for Elliot and Maddie - well they laid next to each other as all good 3month old baby friends can do.

the a/c

love to say that I was so cold from the great new a/c that that is why the photo is blurry and out of focus but its just a bad photo - we are loving the a/c - I am trying to be frugal with my use of it - Derek is a little less

ridin' along on my pushbike honey...

Sebastian got to have a ride on Gary's bike helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads too Im not sure he liked it too much when Gary went fast.

do you like my hair?

today we bought some spiderman bubbles to have in the new bath - however I think I should have opened them and smelled them before purchasing them from the $2 shop. They smell yuk! what should I have expected - and they probably will flay the skin off too. I'll let you know how that goes...
how does an almost 3 year old who has never seen spiderman, superman or batman have such an affinity for such things -is it the marketing? is it innate? its always what he chooses, why or why? I suppose it better than dealing with Bratz and Barbie body image issues??

the little wii

Sebastian has a new found love - like father like son its video games, Here is a little excerpt of him doing wii boxing, he is scoring slightly more than Derek on bowling - 196 is his best score!

brotherly love

swimming at the OK pool

while our pool was out of action we went swimming at the OK pool - aptly named cause it wasnt green and gross but OK to swim in. It has a toddler pool that is only 80cm deep perfect for 90cm tall boys and heavily pregnant ladies trying to get a baby to turn around. Hooray for the OK pool

Some renovations

I will endeavour to find where the photos of the old bathroom went... for a before and after comparison when it is finished. but here is the progress so far

dog antics

Carnaby has taken some settling at this new place
She has driven us nuts barking and escaping - 2 things she has never bothered us with before.
This house seems to drive her crazy, she has worked out more quickly than us how to open the gates. Our Neighbour complained to us about her barking so we spent a good $170 on an electrocution collar to stop her. It gives her a zap when she barks and if she barks 30sec after the first bark she gets zapped at a higher frequency and so on - Derek tested it out and his whole forearm up to his elbow violently contracted and buzzed. We felt mean after that but was more concerned about what the neighbour might do to her. After that she got out onto the main road that is around the corner. Most days for a while there she was getting out about 15 min after we had left a lady picked her up in the middle of the road and took her to the vet to get microchip scanned - they then called us and I went to pick her up - meanwhile she had charmed and schmooched all of the ladies and they loved her - grrrr cute dog.
See if you can find her hiding in the palms
