the bane of every shopping mothers existance

whoever these people are who both invented these "amusements" and maintain them by swapping them around fortnightly at your 'local' are my worst enemy. They have turned what could be a five min dash into the shops for milk and bread into a tactical and logistical nightmare. its akin to dodging landmines in Eretria - (obviously not nearly as life threatening) but you know what I mean. How do these people sleep in their beds at night?

One day I was trying to run past this particular attraction and a grandmother had just put her grandchildren on and there was a spare seat - she offered it to Sebastian - who gleefully took his seat and went around 3 times. Thanks very much now he knows they work - I said. She said to me that I should just tell him only grandmothers can make them work, hmmm then he will hunt down any grey haired female at the shop to beg her for coins as his mum is too cheap - its a no win situation.

on the street where you live

Now - I know that people think that Brisbane is a bit of a hick town in comparison to Sydney and yes this picture could be on a farm in any given location throughout Australia. BUT. its not - its at the end of our street - we have this urban anomaly a big paddock with about a dozen cows living in it - right in the middle of urban sprawl and industrial area. From what I can tell they are mostly bulls - not dairy cows, which really begs the question what are they doing there? Regardless we love our trips down to see the cows

the good life

I have always enjoyed that old british show the good life with felicity Kendall and think I have urban aspirations to a vege garden some what akin to theirs, however I fear the possums may have their own ideas but.. so far so good, we planted some basil, mint, thyme, marjoram and lavender last week, it hasnt been touched, then we found a pumpkin growing that I had stuck a seed from our friend Jodies pumpkins in the soil in a vain hope that it might grow... it did! when i was digging the compost into the soil we discovered some huge earth worms the size of my little finger, sebastian says "oh yuk I dont want to touch that" hmmm I think we have a little ways to go getting him a bit mucky!

you may call me sir knight a lot

too many things at once

yesterday morning i was trying to clean the house and do some cooking, i started to do the washing up and thought I know I will save time by putting the toilet cleaner in the toilet while the water runs in the sink - but of course got distracted and returned to the sink overflowing and this mass of bubbles! I dont think I am ready for multitasking!

aw

i could have photoshopped the bite marks out off the cot!

just so you dont think Derek has fallen off the face of the earth

some things never change

as a child I had an ikea desk that was white and had a hutch and all over the inside of my bit of it I cut out and collected and stuck and had what I thought was a cool collection of little bits and pieces and patterns - stuff like that. Then when I was at highschool my school folder looked a bit like that too - I see a pattern emerging. little collections of things, lots of patterns and colours . I cant help myself! As I said some things never change!
the eat is new - Im growing my collection of tiles and bits and pieces to cover some patched holes in the wall that we inherited, I got some letters from spotlight and covered them with some paper I got at the local( when I say local - there are actually about 4 to choose from) scrapbooking shop, and hey presto some fun letters. Sebastian knows the E is for Elliot and and the cross one is in his name too.

treasures mark II

so this is the new treasures. he appeared back from holidays a few weeks ago. He is fitting in nicely - however I think he might be a bit cold being a tropical fish, and in room temp water. Who knows he might actually be a red fish when he warms up a bit

carrot top

Elliot looked too cute all wrapped up for a sleep last week
