This is us not catching anything at the Ekka

Today is a public holiday in Brisbane so you can take the kids, mortgage your house, catch the flu or gastro at the Ekka. You all know how Derek felt about the Easter show so it is transferable to the Ekka, but with the added threat of pestilence that QLD-ers all talk about.

It is a perfect day here so we went to a park with the aim of a) having a picnic and b) getting seb off the training wheels. Here is how it began.

This is the track, flat and observable the entire way.

Here he is sans trainers, having done 6 laps, pleased as punch with himself.

Here I am channelling my aunts, great aunts and other relatives making the most of handicrafts at a picnic. No-one brought fairy cakes or thermos tea-fail.

This is 36 days to go.

Elliot could get perpetual motion on this thing. It made me sick just looking at him.

  1. I thought Derek didn't like picnics either.

  2. No but if there is a chair provided and it's couched as lunch alfresco he copes. Also no flies or lots of ants in August. Perfect picnic weather
