A Santa coop

In previous years we have not had to worry about where we stand on Santa, with both kids being terrified of him, they actually asked that he didn't come into our house. Done, I can manage that.
Now at school this year the children wrote a letter to Santa and they got a reply. I was not terribly happy about this as I did not get to have first dibs at the cool present and the letter Santa promised " I will see what I can do" style to give the gift. How is there any room left for parents to nay say or not afford the gifts requested. Not. Happy. Santa.
So we have had long conversations with me attempting to call their bluff about going to see Santa and ask for the present promising that I would get it regardless, they didn't have to talk to Santa but if they wanted him not me to bring the gift they had to meet him and talk to him, you cannot demand presents from someone you have never met or spoken to, letter or not.

So here is the face of terror. Waiting in the line at myer.
Mum you aren't going to leave me here are you? Mum I don't have to sit on his lap do I?
Now I have met a few Santas in my time and they were in the days before blue cards, and yes I think those were valid fears but this one seemed nice enough. Chatty! Look at the queue! So we waited and while the Amateur camera user fiddled with her printer and camera and over exposed the photo and had the flash shine up on the back ground we snuck in to say our greeting.
Santa reached out with a gloved hand to shake theirs, which were quickly pulled back. The requested were mumbled out, Santa checked with me to see what I thought, then asked me if I wanted to take a photo with my iPhone .
Yes, yes I do Santa.

So so much better than what was going on with the myer cameras. And flashes, but Santa is still in the photo.... Hmmmm.

So here is a better shot, my better memory of the day

Heres to conquering fears, cheesy Santa photos and the real reason we Celebrate Christmas.

Now what to do about the whole santa thing....
