The olden days
Sebastian has been learning about the olden days at school and asked when we could go in a time machine back to them. I reminisced about "the olden days" a bit and about how unless he sits outside the circle k with Keanu reeves he is unlikely to travel in time. I said that there was a place in sydney called old Sydney town and it was the olden days that you could visit without a time machine, and that maybe next time we were down we could go see.
So it's late at night now and I am coughing so much I cant sleep.
So I goooooogled old Sydney town. PEOPLE! IT'S SHUT. Not only is it shut but it shut in 1991. How could this happen? Cheesy colonialism at it's best. I have a great photo of me in the stocks in some navy blue corduroy buckle shoes. Those were the days. I clearly remember starting my noise induced deafness hearing the cannon being shot and marvelled at the wonders of candle making in a mop cap and apron.
Where? Where am I going to take my children to experience their quasi colonial roots? Hmmmm?
I tell you what, I had better not find out pennyroyal world has gone the way of old Sydney town, The african lion safari and magic kingdom.( it wasn't on the wiki list of past theme parks)
Maybe he will have to settle for a trip to the rocks, and Hyde park barracks.or it's off to the circle k to wait for kenu for us.

Hi Jacqui, I have great memories of Old Sydney Town as well. It was the first time I got to taste a toffee apple lollipop. Maybe the family will have to go on a road trip to Victoria and visit Sovereign Hill. The kids got to see Red Coats and other olden day stuff. Although there was no public floggings like at Old Sydney Town. Kirsty
