When I was about 9 I owned a pair of grey suede boots with grey corduroy fold over cuffs at the top. I loved these boots. I was being a helpful child one night and carried a hot lasagna down the front steps to the car for mum, we were going to a church dinner. My boots failed me, I slipped on the steps and the lasagna went flying. The corning ware dish split into a million pieces, the lasagna ended up in the garden, mum was less than impressed I can understand that now as a parent when good plans are waylayed it's a frustrating thing.
But, I have found a grownup pair of those boots, they arrived in the post from eBay today. They are perfect. They fit! They are grey suedey goodness. Ah shoes.... Why do you call to me like sirens from the Lorelei?
The shoes are second hand but have been resoled, so maybe no wardrobe malfunctions this time around. I certainly will be asking Derek to carry the lasagna down the steps just in case
i chuckled reading this because i remember that night and the lasagne events perfectly. i also remember being really glad it wasn't me that dropped it!!!
