Busted. Aka I'm having a special day out with my mum

Last week Elliot was invited to a birthday party which was smack bang at the same time as church. I'm not legalistic about going, it doesn't save you by turning up through the doors each week having your attendance marked off. But, we have made a commitment to it and I value that, as well as the people we go there to meet with and what we hear while we are there, any who, for the two weeks prior to this party invite we hadn't been, I had said yes o one party then a week of quarantine now another party invite. So I drew a line in the sand, the child wasn't a particularly close friend. I was umming and ahhhing about how to RSVP and meant to do it many times then got distracted. So Thursday morning last week saw the child's mother ask me in the car park if Elliot was coming to the party - which was fine, I was slack to not have replied earlier. I had to decline the invite infront of Elliot. He was not happy, infact so unhappy he chucked a tantrum. Delightful. In the car park, infront of the teachers and other mums, I think he might have even tried to smack me on the bottom. I spoke to him calmly and serenely as you do when all eyes are on you. And explained that he couldn't go to the party but we could go to the play centre where the party was at another time. I knew the tantrum wasn't about the party but about not getting to go to the play centre. I had actually explained several days earlier when we made the decision to not go to the party that I would take just Elliot to the centre at another time - which he was very fine with at that time.

So on Tuesday I took him to the play centre as promised, not because he chucked a tantrum, I think he lost screen time that day anyway.

Does he look like he's having fun?
He kept telling people he was having a special day with his mum and I kept thinking -really? I'm just bringing you here cause I disappointed you by not letting you go to some kids party. Silver linings.

In all of that I raced out of the house that morning just wanting to get the whole play centre ordeal over with and left without a change of clothes for Tristan. He wee-ed right through his nappy as we were leaving school all over him and me. It was a cold day. So I got him a pair of $5 pjs at the reject shop, the only clothes they had in size 0. Unfortunately I had to stay with wee on my top. I also hadn't taken a pair of socks for my self at the play centre and it was one of those days I chose ballet flats instead of sensible warm shoes and socks. Tristan was bursting at the seams to get into the baby area so I went it walking on my knees, he was having a lovely time, climbing looking at bubbles

When I got busted for not having socks on, she told me I could buy some of their socks but I was already thinking this stinking trip to your centre had cost me 990 to get in, $5 for new dry clothes and a coffee I didn't really want socks as well. So Tristan and I left, he crawled around on the mats outside, I wore my dirty great big shoes and contaminated the floor

Out here, and elliot had a special day out with his mum - who got just about everything wrong that day
I wrote this somewhere
