Red tip green face

Saturday was the red tip test. He knew his forms. There was no perceived nervousness. In fact quite the opposite - cool as a cucumber.

At the start master Sensei reads a riot act about not testing children who are sick. He must have asked the nervous children about 5 times " is anyone feeling sick?" now I'm not saying it was all the power of suggestion but it certainly had been mentioned several times.

As the test progressed we were feeling so proud. He was kicking and punching his little guts out . Literally.

He got through his form and had to then wait for the white belts .

This is the moment he went from confident karate kicking ninja to pale shadow to green around the gills.

Not so much of this but a chuck that he managed to keep in his mouth til we dashed from the testing floor to the toilet. A feat worth a few points for ninja bravado surely. He chucked in the toilet and was a bit pale and sweaty.
He finished the testing. But we are yet to see if he made it through, or the repercussions of taking a child who threw up.
We skipped the post test celebration milkshake for a speedy trip home vomit bag in hand. There were no more chucks nor queasiness. So it seems some what of a mystery as to what happened.

I'm putting my money on early morning over tiredness, excitement, running around nervous adrenaline and a too tight belt on a recovering refluxers tummy.
2 weeks wait to see who wins red tip or green face.
We were proud of him none the less. Me particularly that I didn't have to clean up vomit off the dojo floor in front of the master senseis and all the other parents.
